Windows 10 - Windows Update Agent

Malware often exploits vulnerabilities within outdated applications to infect a system. Always keep your system up-to-date to prevent exploits and reduce the risk of infection.

Please follow the below steps to configure Windows Update Agent on your device

1. Turn on Windows Updates

  • Go to Local services: Click Start icon, type "services", select "Services"

  • Scroll and look for "Windows Update" service

  • Double click on Windows Update service and choose "Automatic" for the Startup type to enable Windows Update. Then hit OK.

  • Go to Windows Update settings: click Start icon, type "Windows Update", select "Windows Update settings"

  • Click on Advanced options

  • Turn on "Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows"

2. Install all missing patches on your device

2.1 Check Windows Update

  • Go to Windows Update settings: click Start icon, type "Windows Update", select "Windows Update settings"

  • Click "Check for updates"

  • The system should automatically download and install missing patches if they are available

  • Restart your machine if required

2.2 Check Optional Updates if available

  • Go to Windows Update settings: click Start icon, type "Windows Update", select "Windows Update settings"

  • Click “Download and install” if there is any optional missing patches that have not applied to your devices.

3. Recheck your device's compliance

  • Right click the "OPSWAT Client" tray icon, click "Recheck" to enforce the agent scan device compliance data and report to the MetaAccess servers again. Note that if you are running an old agent version, you should click "Check applications security" and "Check for OS updates"
