Whereas:

  • TIMEOUT FOR FILE TYPE ANALYSIS [IN MINUTES]:

    • New feature since MetaDefender Core 4.19.1

    • Specify timeout for file type analysis, when timeout is hit, MetaDefender Core will stop ongoing file type analysis task, relaunch file type engine process and mark file type detection as “Not available” result.

  • DETECT FILE TYPE MISMATCH:

    • An existing setting re-organized, formerly under “SCAN” tab in workflow rule.

    • Indicating whether or not MetaDefender Core should mark file processing as “Mismatched” result when the true file type detection is not the same as file extension.

  • FALLBACK FILE TYPE DETECTION TO CURRENT EXTENSION IF NEEDED:

    • An existing setting re-organized, formerly under “ADVANCED” tab in workflow rule.

    • Enabling it to let MetaDefender Core use file extension whenever true file type detection is not guaranteed.

  • SKIP PROCESSING IF ACTUAL FILE TYPE COULD NOT BE DETECTED:

    • New feature since MetaDefender Core 4.19.1

    • Enabling it to let MetaDefender Core skip further processing if actual file type could not be detected by file type engine for following reasons:

      • File type engine process crashed

      • Waiting tasks in queue aborted when file type engine process terminated

      • File type analysis task timed out

      • User cancelled entire processing while analyzing file type

    • When triggered, the final scan verdict will be “Not scanned”
